NHR Wireless Monitoring Adds an Independent Redundancy Layer for a Taiwan Data Center

NHR is highlighting a data center application in Taiwan, where an operations team added a layer of environmental visibility fully independent of the room's existing controls — together with automated asset records.

A monitoring layer decoupled from facility power and network

A server room's environmental controls usually share the facility's own power and network infrastructure, so monitoring tends to drop out during maintenance or faults — exactly when visibility matters most. With cable trays and conduits already saturated, any solution requiring construction or new cabling meant change risk and a long approval process.

The NHR solution places S09-TH wireless temperature and humidity sensors along hot and cold aisles and at priority racks. The battery-powered sensors are simply positioned, and readings travel over NB-IoT cellular connectivity straight to the cloud platform, fully decoupled from the room's network and power — the layer keeps running even when existing controls are offline. T20 BLE asset trackers on servers and key equipment record zone and position changes automatically, bringing environmental and asset data together on one platform.

Independent alerts, verifiable stocktakes

Environmental anomalies moved from after-the-fact discovery to minute-level alerts, with an alert path independent of the room's own systems — closing the visibility gap during facility maintenance windows. Key equipment gained its first continuous record of environmental and location status: stocktaking now verifies against system records instead of rack-by-rack manual counts, and the gap between records and reality has narrowed sharply — two chronic operational problems addressed by a single deployment.
