NHR is highlighting a smart waste bin monitoring application in Malaysia, where a large shopping mall now sees the fill status of bins across every floor in real time — moving cleaning dispatch from guesswork to data.

From fixed rounds to real-time fill-level visibility

Bins in a mall are spread across corridors, food courts, and entrances, and fill rates swing with foot traffic. Cleaning staff used to walk full rounds on a fixed schedule, which failed on both ends: some bins were found only after overflowing, hurting the shopper experience, while other stops were wasted trips to near-empty bins.

The NHR solution fits key bins with B01 smart laser sensors that continuously detect fill level from the bin lid and report over NB-IoT cellular connectivity, so the mall needed no extra cabling or network equipment. All bin statuses feed into the IoT View platform, where a map shows each bin's location and fill level in real time, and bins crossing the configured threshold notify the cleaning dispatcher for priority collection.

Fewer routine trips, earlier overflow response

Cleaning operations shifted from fixed full rounds to demand-driven dispatch, cutting routine manual inspection trips by roughly thirty to fifty percent and freeing time for cleaning quality and high-priority zones. Overflow situations that used to be discovered after the fact are now flagged by minute-level alerts, so bins filling unusually fast during peak hours are handled before they overflow — and accumulated fill-rate and collection records give the team evidence for adjusting shift plans and bin placement.
