NHR Bay Sensing and LED Guidance Make Tanker Docking Safer at a UAE Facility

NHR is sharing a smart bay-guidance application at a heavy-vehicle facility in the UAE, where P01 parking sensors linked to P06 guidance LEDs help tanker drivers confirm bay status earlier and dock more safely.

Free bays visible from long range

Tankers are long vehicles with large blind zones, and reversing into a bay demands early judgment and room to line up. Bay status once depended on ground staff directing traffic and drivers circling to check for themselves — at peak times, heavy vehicles maneuvered back and forth in confined space, stretching turnaround and amplifying operational risk.

The facility installed a drive-over-resistant P01 sensor in every tanker bay, with P06 guidance LEDs linked to the sensors: green for a free bay, red for an occupied one, clearly readable from long range, so drivers no longer circle row by row or wait for a marshaller. Sensor data reaches the platform over NB-IoT, presenting live occupancy and usage history for every bay.

Safer docking, steadier turnaround

Drivers now confirm parking status earlier and follow a clearer path in. First-attempt docking became more common, repeated maneuvering inside the yard dropped visibly, and routine status checks and manual marshalling hours fell by roughly a third — freeing staff for loading and safety-critical work.

Abnormal occupation and overstays are flagged by real-time alerts, so bay discipline no longer depends on a marshaller's line of sight, and the uncertainty around entry and exit times has narrowed substantially.
