NHR Smart Parking Sensing Brings Real-Time Curbside Visibility to a High-Demand Urban Zone in Bulgaria

NHR is highlighting a smart parking application in Bulgaria, helping an operator in a high-demand urban zone bring the status of every managed curbside space into real-time view.

Curbside spaces nobody could see

In busy districts, drivers circle block after block hunting for a space, stretching parking stops and adding to peak-hour congestion. For the operator, occupancy was essentially invisible: patrols were the only source of information, violations and long-stay occupation were hard to catch in time, and tariff and layout decisions rested on estimates.

The NHR solution installs a P01 surface-mounted smart parking sensor at each managed space, detecting vehicle arrivals and departures through magnetic-based combined sensing and reporting over the NB-IoT cellular network. The sensor fixes directly onto the road surface — no excavation, no cabling — so each space is equipped quickly, with virtually no maintenance after installation.

Putting patrol effort where it counts

Space states feed a live platform map: drivers can be steered toward streets that still have capacity, while managers track utilization and turnover by time of day and dispatch enforcement staff on alerts. Routine patrol hours fell by roughly a third, as staff shifted from sweeping whole zones to handling spaces flagged by the system — and curbside usage became a complete, analyzable record for the first time, giving tariff adjustments and space planning a factual basis and moving parking management from experience to data.
