NHR Edge AI Cameras Bring Real-Time Visibility to Parking and EV Charging Bays

NHR is highlighting an AI parking vision application in Taiwan that helps a parking operator track regular bays and EV charging bays in real time, easing patrol workload and giving charging-service coordination a factual basis.

From invisible bays to a live map

As electric vehicles gain ground, parking operators have been adding charging bays to existing sites — and a new management problem arrives with them: when a charging bay sits occupied for hours, the availability of the charging service suffers, and the customer experience along with it. The operator had relied on gate data and walking patrols, leaving occupancy invisible and violations hard to catch in time. The NHR solution mounts edge AI cameras on low poles close to bay level; on-device AI reads occupancy events directly and captures still images as evidence. Events flow into the IoT View platform to build a live bay map, with regular and charging bays shown separately, automatic alerts for long-stay occupation, and APIs connecting the data to the operator's existing parking management system.

Lighter patrols, data-backed planning

After deployment, routine patrol hours fell by roughly a third — staff no longer walk the site just to confirm bay states, and awareness of exceptions shifted from passive reports to real-time system alerts. Bay-level usage data forms a complete, analyzable record for the first time, helping the operator review usage patterns, evaluate charging-bay allocation, and plan the next phase of expansion.
